Dee Karl: Isles Post Game Locker Quotes & Hamonic update
A few quotes before today's 3 pm tilt against the Panthers. - Dee Karl
Yesterday's game was the perfect example as to why Michael Haley should be on this roster. Is Wallace really making any impact? Aside from being physical and a great team guy......Haley can play. It's crazyyyyyy to me that they would rather go with Wallace. |

I cant explain why Haley isnt up here... is he in the dog house for something? Or just like Gillies, he brings too much grit to the team.

Ullstrom and Haley SHOULD be on the team playing the 4th line with Pandolfo. Rolston should hang out with Snow up in the box and Wallace should be back in the AHL where he belongs.
Oh yeah, and if the kid ever had a thought in his head... Big bodied Wishart would be here for Staois but some people never realize what they have. |

This team can hype the idea of possibly making the playoffs. But who's kidding who? Our roster is softer than a soup sandwich. How many times do we see our forwards getting pounded? When bigger teams start to turn up the physical game, the isles simply cannot match that. You cannot go anywhere in this league with just finesse. It's why Montreal will never win anything, and why they can never beat a team like Boston or Philly in the playoffs.
So im puzzled..........how can this team even speak of the playoffs with only one player (Martin) who can play playoff type hockey ? Exclude Tavares from this convo. |

No one ever said anything about playing in the playoffs... just that we can still make it. Making it & succeeding in them are 2 very different things.
But you have to make them first, then you play em. Lets take 1 thing at a time

And X, you need to change that location. No matter what happens the rest of the year, they have assured themself that they will not be getting Yakopov.
From here on out, the Islanders have to work on reputation and team appearence. If they want anyone to sign here come July 1 then they need to show that they are growing and are better then how outside media portrays them. Personally, I don't think they make the playoffs because of the 3 point games and how regularly it occurs. But, they can't be sellers now and show guys that they will continually dump assets for picks. If I'm a FA and I see a team happy at cap floor and dumping anything worthy every February, I'd stay away too. |

Did the Isles win yesterday...
8 games till the trade deadline.
These 8 games are huge for the Isles. If they can manage to win 6 of the 8 games... playoffs are still an option.
If not... trade Nabby!!! Chicago or Detroit... bidding war!!!
Nothing less than a late first rounder!!! |

I don't think that it is a good idea for us to trade Nabby. I think we should resign him. He is probably the first legit goalie we had since Osgood. Dipietro wasn't even one before injuries became his best friend. We should trade for a player that would help us down the stretch. It doesn't have to be a all star caliber player. It could be someone like Bickell, Sutton, Konopka or whoever! Let's go Islanders. I still believe! |

If we could get rid of Dipietro the next season, I think it is idealistic for us to keep Nabby for another season or two as Poulin and Nilsson learns from him. I know that we wouldn't be in this situation if it wasn't for Nabby. He won few games for us. We need to win the game today. I am still p*ssed about the season opener we got shut out against Panthers. |

Agreed...if the Islanders have between 65-70 points by the trade deadline, they have shot of a playoff spot. If Chicago wants Nabby so badly offer a two for two...Nabby and Bailey for either Bolland or Sharp and Emery... |

Good Morning.
As Nabby's stock continues to Rise.
It was again reported YESTERDAY on XM Radio's NHL Station that Nabby is off the trade market!
Is this a shrewd stance by Snow hoping to drive up Nabby's price? Or a dumb move by Snow holding onto a UFA goalie who more than likely will test the FA waters looking to sign with a Mid West or West Coast PO team? |

You bring up a good point. I think Snow didn't play his hand well with roloson or guerin and as a result didn't get much in return. I think any real contending team would really improve their team by adding nabakov. It's going to come down to which GM is going to say scew it and offer something real juicy for nabby. I don't believe snow that nabby isn't on the market. He's finally playing the game.... |

I'm talking about making it........not winning playoff series. In order to make it you need more "playoff" players. The isles are too soft. I'm tired of seeing them get out muscled. |

Like the idea of trading with Chicago, but Sharp if off limits, but do like Bolland, if he could stay healthy for a year.
Would like to do a big package with Blackshawks an help absorb some of there salary cap issues, plus help us also. |

Lets hope so. Nabby has become a terrific bargaining chip. Aside from the obvious benefits of a Nabby trade. It would be a feather in the Cap for Snow to get a valuable return for Nabby considering all the flack he took Last Yr when he picked him up. Snow would look like a manipulative genius. |

Isles won yesterday and didn't back down from any of the kings shenanigans. Moulson didn't miss a shift and Martin basically boarded himself. Though the team handled it find. They need help from the officials to actually call games correctly. |

Or sign him for 2 years. Biggest reason for them winning is because they are actually getting good goaltending for the first time in years. If we count on Poulin and Montoya next year it will be another lottery pick. And god forbid dp |

How great would it be if we beat out the Leafs for that final playoff spot and face the Rags first round. It would be even better to beat the Rags and pull off a huge upset. |

Hope so. Florida and Boston are two teams the Isles can not beat this year. I hope that changes today. |
